Stallings-Williams Post 206 Honor Flight

On the 26th of April, this post, represented by Historian Les Griffith and Board Member Fred Bumgarner, had the pleasure of hosting an “Honor Flight” (actually via small bus) for some of our World War II Veterans, to the WWII Memorial in Washington, DC.  Our honorees were:

Bob Cory, US Navy, 1943-46, 51-52.  Served on SC-743, a sub chaser.

Austin Good, US Merchant Marine, 1943-45.  Served as a machinist and deck hand on various cargo ships primarily in the Atlantic Ocean.

Oscar (Willie) Ouellette, US Navy, 1943-46, served on Navy gun crew on merchant ships in both the Atlantic and Pacific.  Re-joined the Navy in 1948 and served on a sub-chaser.

Doyle Bigsby, US Army Air Corps, 1942-46.  Served as an aviation electrician on B-24 bombers flying from bases in England.

Bill Barrett, US Navy, 1943-46.  Served as a motor machinist mate on a patrol vessel based in Chesapeake Beach.
